The South Coast and Shoalhaven region extends from the Shoalhaven Heads south to the Bega Valley. Beef cattle run across the range country of Kangaroo Valley, the Shoalhaven hinterland, and the Bega and Cobargo districts. Dairy is concentrated in the Bega Valley, which has historically been one of New South Wales's most significant dairy-producing areas. Timber — both hardwood and softwood — is important in the southern range country. The region also carries significant rural residential and lifestyle rural holdings, driven by coastal proximity.
